In a grand celebration marking its 60th anniversary, Brasfield & Gorrie recently hosted an event in its hometown, drawing around 3,000 employees and guests.

This milestone highlighted the company’s journey from a local contractor to a nationally recognized firm.

Founded in 1964 by Miller Gorrie, Brasfield & Gorrie has expanded significantly over the past six decades. From its beginnings, the company has grown to become a key player in the construction industry, executing projects that have revitalized communities and boosted economies.

At the celebratory event, CEO Jim Gorrie expressed his pride in the company’s achievements.

“It’s rewarding to see all the things we’ve built, but I’m even more pleased by the impact we’ve made on people and communities while working hand-in-hand with our clients and partners. We’re stronger than we’ve ever been, and our future is bright. Our current, third generation of leadership is the most talented we’ve ever had, and there are a lot of lessons from our past that can fuel our future,” said Gorrie.

Today, Brasfield & Gorrie boasts a workforce of over 3,700 employees.

Although headquartered in Birmingham, the company’s influence spans across the nation, with projects in 39 states and offices in 13 cities. The company encourages its teams to engage with their local communities, both through financial contributions and volunteer efforts.

In North Alabama, Brasfield & Gorrie has been active for nearly 50 years, establishing a local office in 2013. Since then, the company has worked on local projects, including the Alabama School of Cyber Technology, Redstone Gateway buildings 7000 and 5300, Discovery Life Sciences at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology campus, Bryant Bank Athens, Pinnacle Huntsville, and the Range Office Building.

“We’re grateful to past generations of Brasfield & Gorrie employees for laying the foundation for our success. As long as we stay true to our values, we’re positioned for an incredible future. Founder Miller Gorrie’s story certainly shows what you can do with determination, grit, and a commitment to doing the right thing for our people and our clients. We’ve got all the ingredients in place to support big dreams. As amazing as the first 60 years have been, I think the best is yet to come,” reflected President Rob Blalock

In 2023, Brasfield & Gorrie reported $5.8 billion in revenue and is currently ranked #22 on Engineering News-Record’s Top Contractors list.
