Huntsville International Airport expands with new non-stop service to New York City

November 26, 2024/in Community Development, Featured, Lead, News, Tourism, Transportation, Travel/Leisure, Weather/by Gus Wintzell

Huntsville International Airport (HSV) is set to offer its 15th non-stop route, as Delta Air Lines announced the addition of a direct service to New York City’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) starting April 14, 2025. This new route will operate once daily in both directions, providing passengers with a convenient travel option to one of the nation’s most sought-after destinations.

The service will be aboard a Bombardier CRJ-900 aircraft, which offers 76 seats, including First Class.

“We’ve heard from the community for years about the demand for a non-stop connection to New York City,” said Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle. “This new route not only meets that demand but strengthens our position as a key business and leisure hub in the region. We’re thrilled that Delta recognizes the potential of this market and is expanding its service to the Big Apple.”

Delta’s commitment to connecting Huntsville with major destinations is evident with this new addition.

“We’re excited to bring this non-stop service to Huntsville, connecting the community to one of the world’s most vibrant cities,” said David Hart, Delta’s Managing Director of Network Planning. “As the only airline offering direct service between Huntsville and New York City, this route highlights our dedication to providing more travel options for our customers, whether for business or leisure.”

Currently, Delta offers daily non-stop flights from Huntsville to Atlanta and Detroit, further solidifying the airport’s growing network.

Trey Bentley, Chairman of the Port of Huntsville, emphasized the importance of the new route.

“This service connects Huntsville to the largest metro area in the United States, providing our residents and business travelers with more opportunities to travel efficiently. We’re focused on expanding our offerings to meet the needs of our growing community.”

With approximately 80 Delta departures from Huntsville each week, passengers can enjoy a range of amenities, including complimentary snacks and beverages, as well as in-flight entertainment options such as movies and TV shows.
