Downtown Huntsville, Inc. seeks new executive leadership

May 15, 2025/in Arts, Career, Community Development, Development, Employment, Featured, Government, Lead, News, Tourism, Workforce Development/by Sarah Zupko

Downtown Huntsville, Inc. (DHI) recently announced the resignation of President & CEO Rob Buddo. Buddo’s last day will be Friday, May 23, 2025, as he has accepted a new position in his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina. Buddo joined DHI in 2022.

“Rob helped shape where we are today,” said Mark Russell, Board Chair of Downtown Huntsville, Inc. “He led the organization through a critical period of growth and evolution, and we’re thankful for the vision and stability he brought to the role. He leaves DHI in a strong position to continue moving forward.”

During his tenure at DHI, Buddo:

  • Initiated broker tours in the downtown area to showcase available office spaces and encourage investment.
  • Commissioned a survey of downtown office properties to provide data for developers and stakeholders.
  • Refined marketing efforts to prioritize strategies with measurable results.
  • Used community feedback to update public events downtown.
  • Employed district-specific data to illustrate downtown’s economic and social influence.
  • Earned the support of city leaders.

“This next chapter is both professional and personal,” said Buddo. “I’m excited to return home and continue working in economic development at a regional level. I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve accomplished at DHI, and grateful to have worked with such a committed team and community.”

The DHI Executive Team, with support from the Board of Directors, will lead the leadership transition and begin the process of identifying new executive leadership. In the meantime, the organization will continue to implement its stated 2025 goals, which include increasing member engagement and promoting a dynamic, inclusive downtown Huntsville.

DHI is currently accepting applications for the position of President & CEO. The organization is seeking a candidate to lead its efforts in urban development and community engagement. More information about the role is available on DHI’s employment page.
