UAH Named 3DEXPERIENCE Edu Center of Excellence by Dassault Systèmes

The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) announced that it has been designated a 3DEXPERIENCE Edu Center of Excellence by Dassault Systèmes. The designation recognizes and strengthens UAH’s ability to provide cutting-edge, hands-on training in model-based systems engineering (MBSE), simulation, virtual twin technology, and advanced manufacturing; preparing students and professionals for the future of digital engineering and production. UAH is part of The University of Alabama System.

As an official 3DEXPERIENCE Edu Center of Excellence, UAH will integrate Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform across its outreach, undergraduate education and research programs. This multi-level integration connects K-12 engagement, classroom learning and advanced research within a unified digital ecosystem, providing learners and educators with the same collaborative tools used by leading aerospace, defense and technology organizations.

“Today culminates months of collaboration — and launches a groundbreaking program that will deepen insights and enhance access to the digital innovations driving Redstone Arsenal and the engineering sector,” said Dr. Robert Lindquist, UAH vice president for research and economic development. “This effort aligns with our goal of delivering the most relevant course curriculum and exposure to digital engineering tools to prepare our students for future careers within the government and industry.”

Authorized on September 22, 2025, this recognition affirms UAH’s leadership in advancing digital transformation in higher education. As part of the program, UAH will align curriculum development, faculty training and industry engagement with the 3DEXPERIENCE Edu Center of Excellence Charter, ensuring academic and research excellence consistent with the Dassault Systèmes program’s global standards.

“We are proud to welcome UAH into our global network of 3DEXPERIENCE Edu Centers of Excellence,” said Bill Devries, Vice President of North America Brands and Workforce of the Future, Dassault Systèmes. “As part of the program, UAH students and researchers will gain access to applications and methodologies used by global innovators. Together, we are cultivating the next generation of digital engineers and scientists equipped for the generative economy.”

The 3DEXPERIENCE Edu Center of Excellence label at UAH reinforces Dassault Systèmes’ mission to accelerate the digital transformation of industry by empowering the workforce of the future with in-demand skills.  It also supports UAH’s commitment to regional economic development. The Huntsville technology corridor — home to a diverse network of aerospace, defense and advanced manufacturing organizations — will directly benefit from access to graduates equipped with next-generation skills.

“This recognition from Dassault Systèmes provides our students and faculty with industry-leading digital engineering tools used in aerospace, advanced manufacturing and other high-tech industries,” said Dr. L. Dale Thomas, director, Alabama Space Grant Consortium, and professor of Industrial and Systems Engineering & Engineering Management at UAH. “Access to this comprehensive software platform will enhance both classroom learning and cutting-edge research, ensuring UAH graduates are prepared to lead in an increasingly digital engineering landscape.”

A memorandum of understanding between UAH and Dassault Systèmes was previously announced in December 2024.
