Huntsville’s Department of Defense Contracts Review: July 04 – July 08

July 13, 2022/in Awards, Community Development, Defense, Engineering, Featured, Military, News, Science, Small Business, Technology/by Noah Logan

This new series from the Huntsville Business Journal will cover DoD contracts awarded to Huntsville-Madison County businesses. Each week, the Huntsville Business Journal will provide you with an update to the various military contracts that local businesses are awarded. The first entry covers contracts listed on the Department of Defense daily postings from Monday July 4th – Friday July 8th.

The past week featured four different major contract announcements. Three of them were modifications or extensions to existing contracts while the other announcement included two different Huntsville based companies in a larger group of companies that are competing for a new contract. The total sum of the contract modifications adds up to around $80 million and the new contract totals $950 million to whichever company is eventually awarded.

  • United States Air Force:
    • EOS Defense Systems USA and Ierus Technologies have both been selected by the U.S. Air Force to compete for task orders alongside several other companies under an indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract to support its Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS). EOS Defense Systems and Ierus will both compete under a $950 million ceiling over a three-year period (with five optional years) for the maturation, demonstration and proliferation of capabilities across platforms and domains, leveraging open systems design, modern software and algorithm development.
  • Missile Defense Agency:
    • The Boeing Company  has been awarded a $14,508,653 contract modification (P00024) for Option Year Six to previously awarded contract FA8105-16-D-0002. The contract modification provides for recurring engineering services for sustainment of the KC-135 aircraft for one option year. Work will be performed in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; San Antonio, Texas; Huntsville, Alabama; and Fort Walton Beach, Florida, and is expected to be completed by March 31, 2023.
    • Raytheon is awarded a $57,850,697 fixed-price-incentive-fee and cost-plus-incentive-fee modification to previously awarded contract N0002419C5412 to exercise options and incrementally fund existing contract line items for fiscal 2022 Standard Missile-2 Block IIIC low rate initial production and spares. 73% of the work will be done in Huntsville and is expected to be completed by December 2024.
    • Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation is being awarded a $7,871,015 modification to previously awarded contract HQ0860-21-C-0003 to exercise an option. This modification, increases the value of the contract from $6,743,960 to $14,614,975. Under this modification, the contractor will mature their axial upper stage design and fabricate, characterize the subassemblies, and conduct a heavyweight motor hot fire test.
