Three community health centers in North Alabama—Central North Alabama Health Services, Inc., HAPPI Health, and Thrive Alabama—are jointly organizing the 4th annual Community Fun & Wellness Block Party. The event, held in observance of National Health Center Week, aims to highlight the services provided by community health centers and to connect residents with a variety of health-related resources.

National Health Center Week 2025, taking place August 3–9, is a nationwide awareness campaign that underscores the vital role Community Health Centers (CHCs) play in improving public health and ensuring all Americans have equitable access to care. CHCs across the country join the celebration through a host of scheduled events. The Community Fun & Wellness Block Party is Huntsville’s celebration event.

Community Fun & Wellness Festival Details:

  • Date: Saturday, August 9, 2025
  • Time: 5:00 – 7:00 PM
  • Location: SR Butler Green at Campus 805, 2620 Clinton Ave W, Huntsville, AL 35805

Event Highlights:

Entertainment & Activities: Attendees can look forward to inflatable slides and bounce houses for all ages, BINGO with great prizes, Touch-a-Truck opportunities with Huntsville Fire & Rescue and the Huntsville Police Department, a video game truck for some competitive fun, a scavenger hunt with great prizes, giant lawn games, and much more!

Live Performances: Dance to the tunes spun by DJ Lashae B from 103.1 WEUP, enjoy a line dance lesson, and experience the rhythms of the Huntsville Drumline.

Food & Giveaways: The festival will kick off with free snow cones for the first 100 attendees and free hot dogs for the first 200, courtesy of Food4Us. Additional treats include free popcorn and raffles, while supplies last.

Community Engagement: Engage with the community through a story time session hosted by the public library and discover valuable information from over 20 local nonprofits about available community resources.

Healthcare for All: Discover the resources offered by your local Community Health Centers and take advantage of on-the-spot health screenings and sports physicals (please bring your sports physical forms).

Michelda Johnson, CEO of HAPPI Health, reflected on the mission and impact of community health centers during National Health Center Week.

“Community Health Centers aren’t just clinics – we are bridges. Between despair and dignity. Between sickness and strength. Between being unseen and finally being heard. At HAPPI Health, we serve Madison County with clinical excellence and community soul – offering care to the uninsured, the underpaid, the overlooked. From well-child visits to mental health check-ins to rides for patients without transportation, we show up. Not just to treat symptoms, but to restore dignity and rewrite stories. National Health Center Week reminds us this is sacred work. And at HAPPI, we meet people where they are—with heart, every single day,” said Johnson.
