Mazda Toyota Manufacturing celebrates fifth anniversary with community donation
MADISON, AL – Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) continued their legacy of community development yesterday with the celebration of five years in Madison County, as well as more than $100,000 in donations to community organizations.
MTM announced grants totaling $110,000 to 20 local nonprofits through their MTM Grant Fund. This announcement aligned with the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville’s (CFGH) Giving Tuesday event. CFGH partnerd with MTM to help facilitate their grant fund, which has provided $340,000 in funding since 2022.
“MTM welcomes every opportunity to give back to the community of North Alabama,” offered Vice
President of Administration Rhonda Gilyard. “As we look back over the past five years, we appreciate how much the community has given to us. Supporting local organizations who make this area such a great place to live and work will always be one of our top priorities as a hometown company.”
This November is the five-year anniversary of MTM’s ground-breaking in Huntsville, and their team saw it as an opportunity to align with Giving Tuesday and make a difference to 20 nonprofits who embody MTM’s Social Innovation mission surrounding education, economic impact and quality of life.
MTM’s grant committee originally hosted the 20 organizations for an in-person, “Shark Tank”-style
pitch for their programs; ten organizations received $1,000 and the other ten received $10,000 to
fund their mission.
“We value what every one of the thousands of nonprofits in North Alabama bring to our community,” said Jessica Luther, External Affairs Specialist at MTM. “This Giving Tuesday offers us the chance to celebrate our anniversary and give back, and we couldn’t ask for a better partner than the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville to help us to amplify our giving.”
CFGH’s Giving Tuesday event was held on November 28, 2023 at Torch Technologies Freedom Center, and celebrated over $3.7 million in support given in the Huntsville area in 2023.
MTM’s Grant Fund provided funding to Arts Huntsville, Athens-Limestone County Public Library Foundation, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Tennessee Valley, Calhoun College Foundation, Enable Madison County, Christmas Charities Year Round, Crisis Services of North Alabama, the Food Bank of North Alabama, Huntsville Community Drumline, Limestone County Career Technical Center, Madison City Schools, New Futures, Inc., Still Serving Veterans, Thrive Alabama, United Cerebral Palsy of Huntsville & Tennessee Valley, the United Way of Madison County, the United Way of Morgan County, Village of Promise, Wellstone, and Women’s Foundation of Alabama.
